Melbourne Fringe Festival taking place next month

The independent arts festival, Melbourne Fringe takes place from the 18th September to the 6th October, offering a range of different forms including comedy, music, circus and dance.

The events will take place in a myriad of different venues across the cities from tiny bars to high-profile locations. Full details of the line-up is expected to be revealed on the 7th August, but highlights from last year included an opera based on the re-enactment of the British colonisation of Australia, a performance of Sylvia Plath’s work, and a party celebrating 30 years independent art in Melbourne. Australia Named Best Place to Live and Work

For the third year running Australia has been named the best place to live and work in the OECD Better Life Index.

This comes after the UK was only ranked number 10 in the index. Australia has a happiness score of 7.2 out of 10, with the average being 6.6, plus a life expectancy of 82 years- two years above the average.

Australia is one of the most popular destinations for ex-pats to go on a working holiday, and it’s easy to see why, with the statistics showing that Australia is really one of the most satisfied countries in the world. (more…)
