Bleach Festival Round Up

The Bleach Festival is an arts, music and beach culture festival which takes place on the Gold Coast each year. This year it happens from 7 – 23 March, and moves down the coast, starting at the surfing world tour Quiksilver and Roxy Pro, moving to Currumbin, before ending in East Street, Tugun in a flurry of barbecues, activities and music.

Musicians playing at the event include Ash Grunwalk, Violent Soho, Elizabeth Rose and Jeremy Marou. As part of the festival a unique outdoor opera will also take place at Greenmount Beach, Coolangatta, where a performance of Mozart’s Magic Flute will be performed underneath the stars and to the sound of the rolling waves of the sea.

Throughout the festival there will be an exhibition of photos which celebrate a century of surfing at Surf World, Gold Coast, while Something Concrete celebrates the world of skateboarding at the Dust Temple. Over at Tugun Progress Hall, it will be transformed into Saltwater Cinema, where two films will be shown which take a look at surfing and its culture.

And for the kids, Paradise Point will be turned into a playground of puppets, music, acrobatics and dinosaurs in performance art which is sure to amaze even the adults.

An inspiring three weeks, full of culture, art and music, the Bleach Festival is a must see if you’re visiting the Gold Coast during March – it sums up the beach culture and heritage of this area perfectly.
