Bleach Festival Round Up

The Bleach Festival is an arts, music and beach culture festival which takes place on the Gold Coast each year. This year it happens from 7 – 23 March, and moves down the coast, starting at the surfing world tour Quiksilver and Roxy Pro, moving to Currumbin, before ending in East Street, Tugun in a flurry of barbecues, activities and music.

Musicians playing at the event include Ash Grunwalk, Violent Soho, Elizabeth Rose and Jeremy Marou. As part of the festival a unique outdoor opera will also take place at Greenmount Beach, Coolangatta, where a performance of Mozart’s Magic Flute will be performed underneath the stars and to the sound of the rolling waves of the sea. Hottest year on record for Australia in 2013

Officials from the Bureau of Meteorology have said that 2013 was the hottest year on record in Australia with temperatures up 1.2C on average.

It’s the hottest since 1910, when records began, and 2013 saw a record warm winter which produced the most devastating fires since 1968 in Sydney. Other significant events which affected the climate included the arrival of an early spring and a number of devastating tropical cyclones.  (more…)

Adelaide voted the best city to visit in 2014

For once Melbourne and Sydney aren’t topping the charts! Adelaide has been voted as one of the top cities to visit in 2014 in a global poll conducted by Lonely Planet.

Adelaide was voted the 10th best city to visit in 2014 due to its quiet beaches, and emerging wine and arts scene. Paris, France topped the list, but there were some other unexpected contenders in the top 10 too, including Riga in Latvia and Trinidad in Cuba. Other cities included Cape Town in South Africa, Zurich in Switzerland, Shanghai in China, Vancouver in Canada, Chicago in the USA and Auckland in New Zealand. (more…)
